The Caribbean flamingo is the only flamingo species that breeds in the Caribbean, often forming massive, noisy colonies. Unlike most birds, it stirs mud with its feet and filters food through a specialized bill. Interestingly, its pink color comes from pigments in its diet, and it can live up to 30 years in the wild.
